On Sunday 30th November 2025, the Independence Ceremonial Parade and President Installation Ceremony, will be held at Kensington Oval, President Kennedy Drive, St. Michael. As a result, a number of traffic changes will take effect from 5:00 am to 2:30 pm.
ROAD CLOSURES
The following roads shall be closed to all vehicular traffic between the relevant times:
a) Fontabelle Road from its junction with Lakes Folly and Redman Drive, to its junction with President Kennedy Drive and Holborn Circle.
b) President Kennedy Drive from its junction with Westbury Road to its junction with Holborn Circle. (With the exception of PSVs)
TRAFFIC DELAYS
As the parade progresses, expect traffic delays along the following roads:
a) Fontabelle Road
b) Cheapside Road
c) Chapel Street
d) Prince Alfred Street
e) Broad Street
f) Trafalgar Street
g) Bridge Street
h) Charles Duncan O’Neal Bridge
i) Probyn Street
j) Bay Street
k) Lower Fairchild Street
l) Marhill Street
m) James Street
n) Magazine Lane
o) Coleridge Street
p) Independence Square
NO PARKING
No driver or person in charge of a vehicle, shall park or allow a vehicle to remain stationary on the following roads:
a) Westbury Road
b) President Kennedy Drive
c) Cheapside Road
d) Redman Drive
e) Prescod Boulevard
f) The road leading to Hanschell Inniss Limited
g) Pickwick Gap
h) University Row
i) Mighty Grynner Highway
j) Kensington New Road
PARKING
Parking will be provided at the following locations for designated persons only. (A shuttle service will be provided)
a) Kensington oval – VVIPs
b) Parliament and Rickett Street – Parliamentarians
c) Cube Blue Barbados Port Inc – Award Recipients
d) Government headquarters – Honourees
e) Supreme Court and Helipad – Participants (Parents and children)
f) State House – President’s guests (Toast to the Nation)
g) Government Procurement – Diplomats, Judiciary, Emergency services
h) University of the West Indies car park – Invitees
i) Kensington Mall – Staff of designated persons
OFFENCES
Any person who contravenes these rules or fails to comply with any order given by a member of The Barbados Police Service in uniform, is guilty of an offence and is liable on summary conviction, to a fine of five hundred dollars ($500BDS) or to imprisonment for a term of three (3) months.
These rules do not apply to vehicles used by The Barbados Police Service, the Barbados Defence Force, the Barbados Fire Service, or any emergency vehicle.
Police Officers will also be deployed on the day, to assist with all traffic management.
